Gemma Chambers was celebrating her two-year-old's birthday just before the blaze broke out on Worcester Road. Fundraisers have been set up to help the residents of a Blackburn road who lost everything in a devastating house fire that ripped through an entire street. Emergency services were called to Worcester Road yesterday April 25 at around pm after reports of a fire that had spread through a of properties. Eight fire crews attended from Lancashire Fire and Rescue to services using an aerial ladder platform, two hose reels and two breathing apparatus.

A road closure was put in place and the fire was under control by 7. One of the houses was that of year-old, full time mum Gemma Chambers. The incident has taken away everything the family owns leaving them only with the clothes they were stood in.

Gemma has four children aged two, four, nine and 12 and the family were celebrating her two-year-old son's birthday just before the incident occurred. She told LancsLive: "There no words. I've never been so heartbroken. My four children are staying with my sister at the moment however I'm staying somewhere else separately because it's overcrowded.

I believe there has been a fundraiser set up already and people have come forward to help with donations and I'm really overwhelmed and grateful. Thank you to everyone who is helping. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are currently undertaking a detailed investigation as to the cause of the fire and no further comment will be made until the investigation has been concluded. Together Housing had staff members on site soon after the fire was reported and temporary accommodation, including putting some residents up in hotels, was found for everyone who needed it.

We acted quickly last night to have staff on site to provide support to our residents and the wider community. The Blackburn community and Lancashire residents further afield have also been quick to offer their support.

Gemma's cousin Sarah has set up a Go Fund Me to help with raising money for any items the family may need immediately including household items such as bedding beds and storage. Debbie told Lancs Live: "I'm currently in talks with Gemma and we're trying to help all these residents as much as we can. I had a house fire a year and a half ago when I live on Bunkers Hill in Blackburn so I know how devastating it is. It's just awful what the families are going though.
